Catholic Charities of Staten Island brings its Columbus Day weekend feast back to Mount Loretto with rides and games, food, vendors, live music, beer and sangria gardens, eating competitions and family fun. Fireworks are scheduled for Saturday, October 10.

Rescheduled from September 27 because of expected inclement weather, this free community event features hundreds of classic, antique, custom and exotic vehicles, plus music, vendors and family fun from 9:00 AM–3:00 PM.

Halloween fun takes over the Staten Island Zoo October 17 and 18 from 2:30–8:00 PM. Enjoy spooky sights, creepy creatures, festive surprises and family-friendly fun throughout the Zoo. Costumes are welcome, and timed tickets are available in advance.

NYC SAFE Disposal Event — Staten Island
Have household products that should not go in the regular trash? NYC’s SAFE Disposal Event gives Staten Island residents an opportunity to safely dispose of certain potentially harmful household products.
- Accepted SAFE-event materials include items such as acids, antifreeze, damaged batteries, gasoline or diesel, flares, gas cylinders and fire extinguishers.
- Medical waste such as pharmaceuticals and sharps, pesticides and solvents are also listed among accepted materials.
- Electronics, batteries and paint have additional year-round or special-waste disposal options.
